Comparison of Moritz & Sabrina

Sabrina and Moritz both make pictures of the geometry in MCNP input files. How can one choose one program if one can only obtain one?

Sabrina makes static 3D pictures by ray tracing. The ray tracing takes from several seconds to several minutes, depending on the complexity of the model and computer screen. The user may change viewpoints, scaling, colors and visibility of cells and materials, etc., but the changes require a new ray tracing. Sabrina has some text-based geometry editing features, but only for solid bodies. Sabrina can show any input geometry that is acceptable by MCNP.

Moritz makes dynamic 3D pictures that can be moved, rotated, and scaled with the mouse. Moritz can show most, but not all, MCNP input geometry. Moritz has mouse-based interactive features for defining and editing geometry. We hope Moritz will incorporate most, if not all, Sabrina features in the future; that future, however, is several years distant. Meanwhile, we are actively developing Moritz with priorities set by user requiremeents.
