Why can't I get particle tracks with Sabrina version 3.54 and MCNP4A?

MCNP4A does not write a correct binary PTRAC file. FILE=ASC must be specified on the PTRAC card.

An ascii (formatted) PTRAC file can not be read on a Silicon Graphics machine with Sabrina 3.54. Later Sabrina versions permit the opening of the file explicitly in ascii mode.
