User Interface Overview

Sabrina interacts with the user through a number of windows. The Main Window contains several Action Buttons for the most commonly used tasks, the Main Menu for controlling most aspects of Sabrina, a Command input window for typing advanced text-based commands, and Transcript and Message areas. The Transcript area contains input typed into the Command window and, optionally, the text-based commands generated by the user interface items. Three classes of information may be written to the Message area: Informative, Warning, and Error. For each class, the user can direct to the text to the Message Area or to a popup dialog.

Sabrina plots pictures in the Graphics Window. This window may be subdivided, permitting multiple pictures to be shown simultaneously.

File Listing Windows echo the contents of files imported by Reading Sabrina scripts or MCNP input files. Reports about the state of the geometry model and Sabrina, such as with items under the List Menu, are displayed in a List Window. A Query mode permits interactive inquiry of the geometry model. Output from these interrogations is directed to the Query Window.

The User may navigate through the interface with the Keyboard as well as the mouse.

The Resources File controls the appearance of the interface. It also contains a number of configuration settings.

A number of menus items invoke popup dialogs; the buttons which do so have an ellipsis '…' appended to their label. When popped up, the dialogs display the current state of the feature in question. Changes are applied when the Apply button is selected. Any changes made are ignored if Cancel is chosen. Both buttons dismiss the dialog.

The size and position of the Windows, directories last used for various types of files, the files Most Recently Used, and some options, such as whether to direct messages to a dialog or the Message area, are save in an initialization file sabrina.ini.
