Tessellation
The number of polygons used to represent a shape depends on the tessellation parameters. These parameters are set on the 3D Style property page. The parameters give the number of divisions in 2 directions. The accuracy of the 3D representations increases with higher tessellation, but so does the rendering time. Reducing the parameters should improve performance on graphics challenged computers.
A shape is represented by 4- or 3-sided polygons covering its surface. For spheres, cylinders, and cones, there are Stacks divisions in the polar (along the axis) direction and Slices divisions around the circumference. A disk is represented by Slices spokes and Stacks loops. A torus has Rings segments around the axis of symmetry and Sides segments around the minor radius circumference divide a torus.
