Surface/Body Creation and Modification
The creation and modification of surfaces and bodies is similar. The remainder of this and the next section pertains to bodies with the substitution of Bodies Menu for Surface menu and Body dialog for Surface dialog. Except for the specific object types, the two menus contain items that function in the same manner.
Closed surfaces-spheres, ellipsoids, and tori-appear in both menus; they are treated as surfaces or bodies depending on their origin.
Surfaces can be created either interactively with the mouse or by entering coefficients in the Surface dialog. The coefficients of existing surfaces, including those created with the mouse, can be modified on the dialog.
The type of surface to create is chosen on the Surface dialog or in one of the submenus in the Surface menu. The dialog is invoked by selecting one of the surface buttons on the toolbar or by selecting Properties in the Surface menu or the Surface submenu of the 2D and 3D context menus.
The Surface menu contains the two items Draw on Select and Properties on Select that determine what happens when a surface type is chosen in one of the Surface menu submenus. When Draw on Select is checked, Moritz expects an interactive surface creation following the selection. The Bodies Menu lists some bodies that cannot be drawn, such as ARB; upon selection of one of these, the Body dialog appears regardless of the setting. When Properties on Selectis checked, a selection shows the Surface dialog.
