Saving and Restoring Polygons

The computed polygons can be saved to and loaded from a file to avoid long waits for polygonalization of complicated models that one anticipates using many times. Creating the polygon file is accomplished by selecting Write Polygons in the Write submenu of the File Menu. The expected suffix is .mrtzp. The default name supplied is foo.mrtzp where foo.mcn (or foo.its, etc.) is the current model.

The polygon file is read after an input file is loaded and processed, but before the cells are polygonalized. Choosing Select Polygon File in the Read submenu of the File Menu loads the polygon file name that will be read at the appropriate time. If Auto Load Polygon File is checked on the 3D Options property page, the polygon file foo.mrtzp is used if foo matches the root name of the input file loaded and if foo.mrtzp exists in the same directory. An embedded command in the input file will also cause reading of the polygon file:

c moritz POLY foo.mrtzp

Except for the Auto Load option, the input and polygon file names need not match as described above. For example, one can load the polygons for the spherical cells in this model spherical chamber icon while adding additional elements to the model. The polygons read in will be used if there is a cell with the same number and an identical cell description.
