Surface and Body Picking
Regardless of the global surface and body draw states, a left or right mouse click in the 2D window picks the surface or body nearest the click position that also intersects the cut when the surface pick mode is in effect. If the Draw Body Surfaces mode is in effect, only surfaces are picked. Otherwise, if the closest surface is part of a body and the click is inside that body, that body is picked. The surface/body pick mode is usually in effect unless some other special mode, such as surface or cell creation, is underway. The mode can be explicitly entered by selecting Pick Surface in the Actions submenu of the Surface menu or clicking the Pick buttonon the toolbar. The middle pane of the status bar reads Pick a Surface when the mode is in effect.
The picking can be restricted to specific types of surfaces by holding down a key while clicking with the left mouse button. (Using the right button interferes with a Windows menu thing.) The modifier keys and the surfaces types picked are:

The picked surface is drawn in the highlight style, usually as a thick line that can be set on the Surface Style property page. The style for a picked body is set on the Body Draw Style property page. A right click brings up the 2D context menu that contains a submenu for the picked surface or body (depending on the type of object picked). From the submenu, one can view the Surface dialog or Body dialog showing the picked object's coefficients and other properties, modify, delete, or hide the object. A hidden surface or body is not drawn and cannot be picked; it will be present when writing MCNP input and other files.
