Importing CAD Geometry
CAD files are read with items in the Import Cad submenu of the File menu. The Import with Options item in the submenu shows the Cad Import property page on which one can specify a translation or transformation to be applied to the imported data. The page also contains choices for the units used in the CAD file and display options once the data is loaded.
DXF Files
Moritz reads some geometry data from DXF files. Testing so far has been on files describing a polygonalized 3D model using only 3DFACE elements and on 2D DXF files.
STEP Files
Moritz can run a conversion program that reads CAD geometry in STEP format and writes the geometry in MCNP format. After the conversion program is executed, Moritz reads the MCNP file. The current version only includes surfaces understood by MCNP (quadrics and tori). Cell descriptions are included, but we have found these to be of limited use.
The user can use the cell creation features to make cells from the surfaces.
