Dimension Scales
Horizontal and vertical numerical scales can be placed in the 2D plot windows, such as shown in the Figure. The scales show the coordinate values in the current unit (Units submenu of the Graphics menu). The numbers are written in the same font as the color legend bar.
The scales can be positioned interactively or activated on the 2D Scale property page. Interactive positioning is initiated by selecting Draw Horizontal Scale or Draw Vertical Scale in the Scales submenu of the 2D context menu. Holding down the left mouse button drags out the scale. When a scale is present, the respective menu item reads Remove ... Scale. To change the size or position of a scale interactively, it must be removed and redrawn.
When positioned interactively, the scales retain their absolute position in the window as the image is zoomed and/or panned. On the 2D Scale property page, one can specify that a scale always pass through the same coordinate value (for example, that the vertical scale in the Figure always pass through the same Z value). One can also specify that a scale extends the full width or height of the plot.
