Interactive Creation
If Properties After Create in the Surface menu is checked, the Surface dialog appears following an interactive surface definition.
Interactive surface creation is triggered by selecting an entry in one of the submenus (if Draw on Select is checked) or one of the Make Another menu items. The Make Another item in the Surface menu permits interactive definition of a surface of the same type as the last one interactively defined. The Make Another items in the 2D context menu enable creation of a surface of the same types as the picked surface.
When Sticky Surface Create in the Surface menu is checked, the program is ready for the interactive definition of another surface of the same type following an interactive surface creation. If not checked, the type to create must be chosen again. When the sticky mode is on, it is rather easy to inadvertently create an undesired surface. A good way to exit the mode when all surfaces have been created is the enter the surface picking mode by selecting the pick surface buttonon the toolbar.
Interactive surface creation may be limited to one or two of the 2D windows, depending on the surface type. For example, PX planes can only be positioned in the XY and XZ cuts. Following selection of a surface type, a large red X appears over those cuts in which the surface cannot be positioned. The red X also appears to disallow cuts when interactively resizing or moving a surface.
To create a surface interactively, the left mouse button is held down while the surface is dragged out. The surface depends on the mouse position and in most cases the position of the initial click. If the information windowshows the Surface tab, the surface coefficients are updated there as the surface is being drawn. The surface is created when the mouse button is released.
