Auto Rotation
The rotation will continue on its own if the cursor is moved from the 3D window before the button is released. The initiation of auto rotation depends on the detection of mouse movement in the window border. If the cursor is moved out of the window too quickly, a motion event in the border will not be detected and the auto rotation will not begin.
Clicking the left button in the 3D window stops the auto rotation. Right button actions-context menu, pan, and zoom-suspend the rotation for the duration of the action. The auto rotation will continue when the menu is dismissed or the pan or zoom stops.
Once auto rotation has commenced, holding down the control, alt, or shift key will constrain the rotation to be about some arbitrary axis (not the axes shown in Table 6). The original rotation will resume when the key is released.
The auto rotation speed depends on how often the image is redrawn and a speed factor. How often is set on the 3D Control property page by the Auto Rotate Refresh value. The default is 33 milliseconds. Note that this is the requested refresh rate. The image could be redrawn less often if the computer is busy elsewhere or cannot keep up with the graphics demands. The Auto Rotate Speed Factor on the 3D Control property page is a relative value that multiplies how much the angle(s) change on each refresh. The Spin More Quickly/Slowly items in the 3D context menu also change the speed factor.
